Your family doctor had his or her finger of the pulse of your entire family’s health, and your family lawyer handled all of your family’s personal and business affairs.
These familiar long-term patient/client relationships gave people an enduring sense of comfort and security because their medical and legal practitioners had a detailed knowledge of their history, and an all-encompassing handle on their situation.
These days, it is usually an entirely different story. When ill health strikes people must often visit whichever busy medical centre can fit them in, seeing a different doctor every time.
